I was asked to add Quote Management to an established travel agency’s website.
Challenge
The travel agency catered mainly for package holidays, however there was no quote functionality and quote management functionality. I was tasked with providing a design solution for this feature that would integrate with their Account Management functionality.
I discussed with key stakeholders their specific needs and any specific requirements. They wanted users to be able to save and amend existing quotes for package holidays. There was also a requirement to be kept informed of any changes to their quote or other important messaging, in a non-intrusive way.
Research
After researching quote features on other travel platforms, I also applied my experience of working on messaging as a Digital Business Analyst with many retailers and ecommerce companies, to avoid common issues such having messaging that is unclear and not specific enough.
User Journey and Wireframes
I mapped out the main process flows for saving, viewing and editing quotes, and the behaviour when quotes would be refreshed.
I then created all the screens for these flows includng User Login, User Account View/Edit and related messaging.
Unexpected Challenges
Adding Quote Details Without Clutter
When presenting the itinerary for a quote it was important to have more information available but without cluttering up the screen. This was achieved by having expandable sections that the user would intuitively realise can be opened without switching screens.
